Mr Koo is a director of Phillip Private Equity.
Mr Koo is also a director in Sigma Drilling Ltd, a joint venture between the Skeie Group (based in Norway) and Vantage Drilling Ltd (NYSE:VTG) to develop a fleet drill-ships for the offshore oil and gas industry currently being built in Korea. Mr Koo’s focus is on the offshore energy sector, the marine sector and bio-medical device sector. Mr Koo currently holds directorships in several companies related to the offshore energy industry.
Mr Koo is a director in Lien Aid Ltd, a non-profit charity organisation. Lien Aid is a partnership between the Lien Foundation and Nanyang Technological University to advance the provision of clean water and sanitation for the benefit of communities in Asia not yet adequately empowered with sustainable solutions that improve health, alleviate economic stagnation, and mitigate environmental degradation.
Mr Koo started his career in 1996 with Keppel Land Ltd, during which he was based in Indonesia to develop a 447Ha resort in Bintan, consisting of ClubMed hotel and a Gary Player designed golf course. Subsequently, he joined the Economic Development Board (“EDB”) as a senior officer until 1999. At the EDB, he served under the Enterprise Development Division which supports the needs of promising local enterprises in Singapore.
He was the CEO and founder of iPropertyNet Ltd, which was granted the in-principle approval to list on the Stock Exchange of Singapore in 2000. An investment of iPropertyNet Ltd, Sygate Technologies, a technology leader in endpoint compliance security solutions, was also acquired by Symantec (NASDAQ: SYMC) in 2005. Mr Koo was also the co-founder and management of Mikrotools, an ultra-precision company that was spun-off from the National University of Singapore.
Mr Koo holds an MBA from the Imperial College London and a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore.
